So I've been at Progressive a little over 18 years. I was a Central Loss Reporting Representative, and there were a lot of peers that kind of took me under their wings and really helped me understand like: "hey, there's many opportunities here that we want to make sure you stick around and take advantage of." Because I was a kid roaming the hallways still, with no clue that I was working for the best company in the world.
Aletra:
My first position was 19 years ago at Progressive. I just had my anniversary! I started in customer service, and one of the conversations I had with my first manager was about career development and personal development. And they really stressed that you can do things inside of Progressive besides just sell insurance. They were very open about caring for me as an individual. Not just what I could offer Progressive, but what could Progressive offer me.

When you think about the jump-around, that is the person that just wants to learn and learn. And on the flip side of that, when you stay steady, and there's nothing wrong with staying steady, we just don't want you to get stagnant there. So still take advantage of those opportunities that come up and invest it in yourself to learn and grow every day. It doesn't matter which path you take.

Aletra:
During my time here, I've loaned into different positions. Really to test my understanding of the company and get business acumen. So I'd loan into a position for six months, find out if it's truly something that I'm interested in, and then if it's not truly what I want to do, then I'll go back to the original position that I was in.
Ebony:

For me, it's been great to sit there and see how she's able to be in her comfort zone and be able to develop herself and develop others.
Ebony:
Our careers literally have progressed together. And just watching that growth within her as a person…I could not be more proud of her.
Aletra:
The good thing about Progressive is if there's something that I truly want to do, why not try it all? You're allowed to make mistakes, you're allowed to test your limits. And there are successes even in the mistakes that you make. There's just data that you didn't realize you needed to help make a better decision and a better product at the end.
Ebony:
We will train you. We will develop you. We will coach you. We will put all this stuff in front of you. You don't go from a new hire today to the CEO tomorrow. The decisions I make every day impact thousands of people. And I cannot say that when I stepped foot in this door that I saw that as what my future was. We are a company that pays you to be a better version of yourself. So why not take full advantage of that?
