As a data engineer lead on the Enterprise Business Analytics and AI (EBAAI) team, you’ll play a critical role in driving the adoption and impact of PyGressive, Progressive’s enterprise Python platform. We’re seeking a technical leader with deep Python expertise to lead a team dedicated to enabling and accelerating PyGressive adoption across the organization. PyGressive is a cornerstone of our modernization strategy—supporting advanced analytics, enabling emerging AI use cases, and empowering teams to build and scale data-driven solutions efficiently. In this role, you'll lead both strategically and technically, working closely with business stakeholders to ensure customer success, eliminate adoption barriers, and shape the platform’s future direction. You’ll be a key partner in advancing Progressive’s enterprise Python strategy and helping transform how our teams build with data.
This is a remote position for US based work only.
Must-have qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and minimum of five years of work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications.
- In lieu of degree, minimum of six years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications may be accepted.
Preferred Skills
- Deep expertise in Python and Linux shell scripting with a strong track record of scaling enterprise platforms for analytics, AI/ML, and automation. Experience with tools like Prefect, Streamlit, Snowflake, Tecton, Azure OpenAI, and AWS Bedrock.
- Proficient in building APIs and infrastructure automation using GitOps and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, ArgoCD, Helm, and Docker. Familiarity with Kubernetes and managing infrastructure-as-code at scale
- Strong experience working within or supporting data science and analytics environments especially enabling analysts and data scientists and analysts through simplified development, deployment, and operational tooling.
- Demonstrated leadership in platform engineering, with the ability to drive adoption, reduce onboarding friction, and partner effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams across a federated enterprise.
Compensation
- $136,300 - $168,400/year
- Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
