Start Date: April, May, June 2025
 
Training Schedule: 10:00 AM - 6:45 PM ET Monday - Friday
 
Work Schedule: Most schedules will include a weekend day and evening hours after completion of training.
 
Work from home office requirements: Designated workspace free from noise and other distractions. Computer that is provided to you must be physically connected to the router or modem by a cable (no wireless connection). All Progressive hardware you receive needs to be connected to a surge protector. High-speed internet access is at your expense unless otherwise required by law.
 
Compensation: $22.00 per hour, Gainshare bonus up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance. An additional 10% when you work evening or weekend hours. Additional $1.00/hour if you are fluent in English and Spanish and hired into a bilingual role.
 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The fundamental objective of the Licensed Consultant Trainee - Sales is to learn, apply, and demonstrate proficiency in the skills to be qualified to perform the Consultant level position. The Trainee will be trained in skills that progress in complexity while attending a structured learning environment. As such, regular and reliable attendance is critical in the Trainee role. A Trainee must acquire a sequence of skills necessary to perform the Consultant role, which includes handling inbound call center sales calls from prospective customers, identifying customers' insurance needs, recommending packages of coverage tailored toward the customers, selling the benefits of becoming a Progressive customer and closing the sale.

The duration of the Trainee role is typically 13 - 16 weeks. Thereafter, upon successful completion of training, the Trainee will graduate to the Consultant role.

Commit to the onboarding experience by attending and participating in virtual or in person training. Adheres to CRM's new hire attendance policy through regular and reliable attendance. Demonstrate proficiency in the following tasks by successfully meeting progress goals. Identifies the customer's motive for calling and understands the customer's insurance needs. Shares expertise and pertinent information to ensure appropriate insurance coverage. Advocates Progressive's products and services through benefits selling. Asks for the customer's business, addresses objections. Cross sells and advocates Progressive's products and services. Utilizes different approaches to ask for and close the sale. Assists consumers who started a quote online via the internet or mobile device. Partners with a coach or supervisor to continually develop skills and improve results. Stays current on products, services, and procedures. Remains flexible in order to better meet the needs of the customer. Able to work variable and flexible hours, such as nights, weekends, and holidays in response to business needs. Rotating shift hours may be required. No regular travel required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
  • {OR} A minimum of 2 years post-secondary education
  • This position requires an active Property and Casualty license; must remain compliant with licensing requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires the use of typical office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, etc.) whether working from home or in office. Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation, and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use. If working in-office, individual will work in a typical office environment. If working in an Emerging Workspace, or similar working arrangement, or working from more than one location lifting of laptop equipment, files and/or personal belongings weighing 10 lbs. or less is required. High-speed internet access is required if working from a home office, at the employee's expense unless otherwise required by law. If working from a home office, being visibly present and available on camera during the training and onboarding period is expected.
